So here we go with my run down of the top 10 synthesizers. There are so many synthesizers available these days, it is really difficult to narrow it down to just 10, but I have done my best. Whether or not you agree with this list as being the absolute best synthesizers that exist, that is in itself an interesting conversation, so please post a comment at the bottom if you have your own views.
1) Arturia MicroBrute Analog Synthesizer
I actually love that music being played in that video. What a great chord sequence! But it also sounds like this synth has some amazing sounds.
But here is an actual real demonstration of it:
Great for creating weird and wonderful synth sounds live, right?
2) Korg microKorg 37-Key Analog Modeling Synthesizer with Vocoder
A great sounding synth with the benefits of digital along with analog style control over your sounds. Perfect for live performances, including the built-in arpeggiator.
3) Korg MS-20 Mini Semi-modular Analog Synthesizer
I don’t know about you, but I can imagine creating some really great retro style tunes with this. You could end up sounding quite a lot like Kraftwerk using a synth like this.
4) Novation MiniNova Analog Modeling Synthesizer
Great for performing really great electronic music live, don’t you think? That arpeggiator along with the great synth sounds would go down really well.
5) Arturia MiniBrute Analog Synthesizer
Now, this looks like a synth that you could create some really crazy sounds with. it packs in a lot of knobs and sliders for a small synth, so you can definitely have a lot of fun with that.
6) Moog LPSSUB001 Sub Phatty Analog Synthesizer
A great little analog-style synthesizer with MIDI ports. This means you don’t need to be restricted to the small built-in keyboard, as you can easily attach a larger keyboard via MIDI.
7) Moog Sub 37 Tribute Edition Analog Synthesizer
Hours of fun to be had twiddling the knobs and playing with the arpeggiator here.
8) Moog LPS001 Slim Phatty Table Top Synthesizer
You’ll notice that this synth has no keyboard, but that’s fine. In fact, not every synth needs to have a keyboard if you are able to use MIDI.
9) Dave Smith Instruments Prophet ’08 PE Keyboard Synthesizer
If I had to imagine what a typical synthesizer might sound like, this would probably be it.
10) Dave Smith Instruments Mopho x4 4-Voice Analog Synthesizer
Lots of fun to be had with this crazy box of tricks!
So there you go, those are the top 10 synthesizers. I hope you enjoyed watching these videos. If you have any comments or questions, feel free to post them in the comments section below and I will reply as soon as I can.
Happy music making!
