New Melodic Electronic Music: I Sleep Only to Dream of You

Exactly a year to the day since I finished my last piece of music, I have finally finished a new one:

It started life over 5 months ago, back in October 2015. Don’t worry, I’ve not been constantly working on it that whole time. I just tend to tweak things bit by bit over a long period of time until I’m completely happy.

This piece is based around a piano sequence, with the bass notes progressing through many different notes. There are also five different key changes in total. Five key changes! How many other pieces of music do you know that have as many as five key changes?!

Anyway, what do you think? Why not let me know in the comments section below.

All the best,
Marcus.

I just listened to the entire song. It’s really cool and relaxing. I like how you worked on it over an extended period of time rather than trying to rush it out quickly. I’m sure it came out significantly better as a result of waiting.

I love how the song continuously builds momentum. It sounds like it belongs in a movie for sure. Some sort of montage scene. Keep up the amazing music and great site. Best of luck with everything. You rock!!!

Oh wow, I just love the sound sample. I would think it takes a bit of talent to put it together and come up with a good result. Your pieces really made for an uplifting yet relaxing sound atmosphere. I think many people who never really thought about it before could really find enjoyment in creating music. Music can be such a wonderful expression of self. Keep up the good work.

Very beautiful music here. You certainly have a gift and you seem to know your way around the instruments and software too.

Where do you take your inspiration from?

When a lot of people think about electronic music they think of Jean Michel Jarre .. but Tangerine Dream perhaps?

Keep up the good work, I really like what you are doing!

      Hi Chris,

Yes, I am definitely inspired by both Jean-Michel Jarre and Tangerine Dream. Also others too, such as Mike Oldfield. Thank you for your kind words. Have a great day!

      All the best,
      Marcus.

This sounds great, you obviously have a talent for music. This reminds me of a friend who sadly passed away a few years ago who used to write his own music; this is the kind of tunes he used to produce, so thank you for taking me back. So many good memories!

As an aside, my 4 month old LOVES this, she is catatonic when I turn it on so thank you again!

That’s great, Dave! I never expected my music to be enjoyed by babies, so that’s genuinely a surprise for me. Thanks for your comment, and have a great day!

hi Marcus, just listened to your creation and i’m a fan.

i listen to a lot of newish classical music, essentially non-verbal music and this definitely gives off a similar feel.

yet, i liked the way that it rises, up and up in an EDM style too, hence it could come on at a club or maybe at a Tomorrowland festival! i can definitely imagine it now.

keep up the good work and best of luck to you!
