Well, you’re in luck, because here I have compiled a list of 10 websites where you can get these free sounds. All together, you have access to quite a lot of free sounds here.

I’ve actually used this one a few times myself. It’s definitely worth a look, as you can find some really interesting sounds. It’s good for ambient sounds or effects. I found a good wind sound on there a while back. To download sounds, you need to create a free account. To use the sounds, you need to give attribution.

There are nearly 1,500 sounds here. The licences on the sounds vary from Royalty Free, Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 and Public Domain. This basically means that some sounds you can use however you want, some you can’t use for commercial purposes, and some you need to give attribution. Because they vary from sound to sound, make sure you know what the licence is on the sound you decide to use.

A good number of sounds in categories such as animals, bells, cartoons/comical, doors/windows, emergency, fire/explosions, horror/sci-fi, human, nature, music, and more. All sounds are free to use however you want, as long as you give credit to in some way.

Over 2,000 fun sound effects such as fireworks, guns, sports, and a lot more. They are completely free for non-commercial use.

A collection of sound effects, loops and music, that you are free to use for non-commercial purposes as long as you give attribution.

Not a big collection of sounds but they are completely free to use, even commercially, without needing to give any attribution. You’re just not allowed to redistribute them or sell them.

A modest collection of sounds, effects and music. As with the site above, you can use these however you want as long as you don’t resell or redistribute them.

Only 670 sounds but they are all public domain so you can do whatever you want with them.

Some very good quality sounds that can be used non-commercially or commercially, as long as you don’t resell or redistribute the individual sounds.

It’s kind of you of providing a list of free downloads. We readers are lucky to know this and actually, knowing you in person.

That being said, I never heard of any of these sites but they pretty sure are well worth being used.

I notice there are some restrictions placed, especially when it comes to resell and redistribution.

I do believe there are people out there ignoring this and spoil everything just for the sake of getting that undeserved income.

    Hello Marcus!

Thanks a lot for compiling this list. 🙂 Very timely for my needs. I am planning to create a youtube channel with tutorials and random educational videos and I am looking for free audio that I can use even if I monetize my video. Thanks for making it clear that some of them actually needs attribution or cannot be used Commercially. WIll check them out one by one. Thanks again!

These sites are very cool! Thank you for making me aware of them. I think my son may use some sounds from these sites for his history fair project. There is so much online that it’s a lot easier to figure out where to start by having someone with your knowledge sort through it for me. I’m afraid to let my son download just anything because of viruses, so the fact that these sites are recommended by someone trustworthy is fantastic! Thank you!!
